Important: We do not store your bank login credentials. Authentication is handled securely by the third-party provider.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Data Processing and Third-Party Services

Third-Party Financial Data Provider

We use a third-party financial data connectivity provider to securely connect to your financial institutions. When you link an account:

  • The provider handles authentication with your bank
  • The provider gives us read-only access to your transaction data
  • Your bank credentials are never stored by us

AI Processing Services

We use third-party AI services to automatically categorize and identify patterns in your transactions:

  • Transaction descriptions, merchant names, and amounts may be sent to AI providers
  • We do not send account numbers, balances, or personally identifiable information
  • AI providers process this data according to their privacy policies

Database and Infrastructure Hosting

We use third-party cloud services for database hosting and authentication:

  • Your data is stored in secure cloud infrastructure
  • Data is encrypted in transit and at rest
  • Infrastructure providers have access to your data as part of hosting services

Data Storage and Security

  • Your data is stored on servers in the United States
  • We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS) and at rest
  • Database access is restricted and monitored

Data Retention

We retain different types of data for different periods:

  • Active Account Data: Retained while your account remains active
  • Transaction Data: We retain transaction history to provide our services. We may delete very old transaction data for operational or storage management purposes
  • Account Deletion: Upon account deletion request, we permanently delete your data within 30 days
  • Legal Requirements: Some data may be retained longer if required by law (e.g., financial records for tax compliance)
  • Backup Systems: Deleted data may persist in backup systems for up to 90 days before permanent removal
  • Aggregated/Anonymized Data: We may retain anonymized, non-personally identifiable data indefinitely for analytical purposes

Access and Control

You have the right to:

  • Delete: Request deletion of your account and data

  • Opt-out: Disconnect financial accounts at any time

For Data Export Requests:

  • Email us with "Data Export Request" in the subject line
  • We will provide your data in a commonly used, machine-readable format (CSV or JSON)
  • Exports include: account information, transaction history, categories, and merchant rules
  • We will verify your identity before processing and respond within 30 days

For Other Requests:

  • Clearly state which right you wish to exercise
  • Provide sufficient information for us to verify your identity
  • We will respond within 30 days (45 days for California residents under CCPA)

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We Do Not Sell Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal or financial information.

We May Share Data:

  • With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize sharing
  • Service Providers: With third parties who help us operate (financial data provider, AI services, database and application hosting)
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law, court order, or government request
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets
  • Safety: To protect rights, property, or safety of us, our users, or others

Children's Privacy

Spend.watch is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights:

  • Right to know what personal information is collected
  • Right to know if personal information is sold or disclosed
  • Right to opt-out of sale of personal information (we don't sell data)
  • Right to deletion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information. We have not sold personal information in the past 12 months and do not plan to sell it in the future.

While we share data with service providers (financial data connectivity, AI processing, and hosting providers) as described in this policy, this sharing is for operational purposes only and does not constitute a "sale" under CCPA.

How to Exercise Your CCPA Rights

California residents can exercise their rights by:

  1. Request to Know: Email travis@readyrickshaw.com with "CCPA Request to Know" in the subject line
  2. Request to Delete: Email travis@readyrickshaw.com with "CCPA Request to Delete" in the subject line, or delete your account through the application settings
  3. Request Data Export: Email travis@readyrickshaw.com with "CCPA Data Export Request" in the subject line

We will verify your identity before processing requests and respond within 45 days.

European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have rights under GDPR:

  • Right to access, rectification, erasure, and portability
  • Right to restrict or object to processing
  • Right to withdraw consent
  • Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

Note: Spend.watch is currently only available in the United States.

Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach that compromises your personal or financial information, we will:

  • Recommend actions you can take to protect yourself

  • Displaying a notice in the application

Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.

Beta Service Disclaimer

IMPORTANT: Spend.watch is in beta. You acknowledge that:

  • The service may contain bugs or errors
  • Data accuracy is not guaranteed
  • You must continue to monitor your accounts directly with your financial institutions
  • We are not responsible for decisions -- financials or otherwise -- made based on data accessed through the service
